Paramount Prince put in a brilliant performance winning in gate-to-wire fashion at generous odds of 11-1 in the 1 1/8-mile Plate Trial. The distance was the main question for him as it was his first start beyond seven furlongs, and he was looking for his first win since crushing a field by nine lengths in his debut last November at six furlongs. He answered all the questions after taking the lead and not looking back while only facing mild pace pressure at the start. He was given a confident ride by Patrick Husbands and earned his spot in the gate for the King’s Plate.
